Preparing a Home for Professional Spray Foam Installation
Spray foam installation is easier when the work area is open, dry and clearly defined before the crew arrives.
Remove stored items
Clear boxes, furniture and loose materials from the treatment area. This protects belongings and gives the installer direct access to framing and surfaces.
Identify utilities
Mark wiring, plumbing, vents and equipment that must remain accessible. Discuss any heat-producing fixtures or special electrical components in advance.
Address leaks first
Roof, pipe or foundation leaks should be repaired before foam is applied. Insulation should not be used to hide an active moisture problem.
Plan ventilation and access
The contractor should explain how the area will be ventilated during work and when it can be safely re-entered.
Confirm the scope
Review the surfaces, foam type, target thickness and cleanup plan in writing. A clear scope prevents confusion once application begins.
